Sea Otter

Sea Otter went pretty well. The Thur crit was hard. I placed 24th out of 41, 2:43 behind the leader. It was on part of the Laguna Seca Raceway track; hilly, chilly, and hard.

I was originally planning on racing the road race on Fri at Sea Otter but changed my mind and raced in the MTB XC (cross-country) race instead; It was #4 in the Kenda Cup/US Cup West series. I had the intention of just going out and riding, not too worried about placing/racing hard. And I did that for the most part but still placed pretty well for not trying too hard; 18th out of 84, 16:23 behind. Not too bad for a half-assed effort :o

My most recent race was in Los Olivos, Santa Ynez Valley Classic, MTB race. It was #5 in the Kenda Cup/US Cup West series and #4 in the So Cal Cup series. Placed 4th, my first podium placement and trophy. I'm pretty pleased with this performance. Less than 4 minutes behind the leader. That bastard better watch out :)

Not racing this weekend. The race I was planning on doing was full. So, I'll take a weekend off and train. Next race is possibly May 10th, a crit in Brea. Wish me luck. I'll post more information soon in case anyone is interested in coming out and seeing the race.

Welcome

Hello All,

This is my first blog entry to try to keep all of my friends and family informed about my cycling/bike racing endeavors (actually, this is my first blog entry ever; of any sort).

I've actually raced a few times this season so far, but my most recent was yesterday, in Ontario CA - Easter Sunday Grand Prix. I did o.k., placed in about the middle of the pack in both of my races. I raced in the 30+ Cat 4/5 and the Cat 4/5 races. To learn more about the categories follow this link: https://www.usacycling.org/news/user/story.php?id=580 I'll give you a run-down on all of my past races in later entries. For now, I just want to introduce you to a bit of bike racing.

My next race will be in Monterey CA - Sea Otter Classic. This is a huge event with all kinds of racing. For more: http://www.seaotterclassic.com/ I will race in probably two races. A criterium on Thur and the road race on Friday. This link will tell you more about the types of races: http://www.usacycling.org/news/user/story.php?id=1155

I am a member of the Coates/On-Deck Foundation cycling club. For more on Coates Cyclery http://coatescyclery.com/ and the On-Deck Foundation http://www.ondeckfoundation.org/

Thanks for reading and look for more entries as the season progresses.
